There is one specific difference between my work done by commission for a specific client and that done for my own inspiration only. That difference is that the client will usually have a definite idea of what they want to see, to experience and to enjoy on a daily basis. For me, as the artist, it involves a few meetings with the client during the process, and gaining an understanding of how I can bring their inspirations, needs, and design desires into a physical presence having subjects that might not come from me originally but that arrive as a result of interpreting client wishes.
Sometimes, as you can see below, there is a project for which I was invited to create a feeling, a viewpoint, and a visual and visceral experience for the client that was really essentially coming from my own inspiration yet being in a collaborative process. The two pastel paintings below are among that type. Being a versatile artist helps me in creating client-specific work! I enjoy both.
